Co-investigators
of The UBC Child and Family Project are involved in
a number of exciting activities. Each is of
interest to a diverse range of people who wish to
participate in the dynamic learning that focuses on
children and families. Three current
2001-2002 initiatives are (1) the editing and
publication of an anthology of papers that
originated from the 2000-2001 the Green College
lecture series "Multiple Lenses, Multiple Images:
Perspectives on the Child Across Time, Space and
Disciplines"; (2) the development of a research
proposal in conjunction with the Human Early
Learning Program (HELP) and the First Call BC
Coalition for Children and Youth; and (3) Child,
Youth and Family Research Day, a research
celebration that will be part of Research Awareness
Week, March 11th to 15th, 2002.
During
the first two years of our Research Development
Initiative, we sought to provide forums whereby
faculty, graduate students and community-based
professionals could develop a discourse on
interdisciplinarity around child and family
issues. One of the forums we developed was
the "Another Look at Human Development" speaker
series, held each week during the 1999-2000 and
2000-2001 academic years. Below is the most
recent schedule of presentations that comprised the
series. The visibility that this series
created for child and family research, along with
our Green College series 2000-2001, serves as a
springboard from which we are developing our
current initiatives. These include the Major
Collaborative Research Initiative (MCRI) proposal
and Child, Youth and Family Research Day.
